This website, "FairGoforCanberra.org.au" is operated by the Trades and Labour Council of the ACT (ABN: 31724041495, UnionsACT, UACT), in support of and on behalf of Fair Go for Canberra Inc (FGFC).

Throughout the site, the terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to UACT. UACT offers this website, including all information, tools and services available from this site to you, the user, conditioned upon your acceptance of all terms, conditions, policies and notices stated here.

By visiting our site and/ or purchasing something from us, you engage in our “Service” and agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions (“Terms of Service”, “Terms”), including those additional terms and conditions and policies referenced herein and/or available by hyperlink.


We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time.


While we take every effort, we are not responsible if information made available on this site is not accurate, complete or current. The material on this site is provided for general information only and should not be relied upon or used as the sole basis for making decisions. The material on this site is not financial advice or legal advice.

This site may contain certain historical information. Historical information, necessarily, is not current and is provided for your reference only. We reserve the right to modify the contents of this site at any time, but we have no obligation to update any information on our site. You agree that it is your responsibility to monitor changes to our site.


No products or services are sold through this website. 


We reserve the right to refuse any financial contribution you place with us. We may, in our sole discretion, limit or cancel any transaction. In the event that we make a change to or cancel a transaction, we may attempt to notify you by contacting the e-mail and/or billing address/phone number provided at the time the transaction was made. We reserve the right to limit or prohibit any transactions.

You agree to provide current, complete and accurate purchase and account information for all purchases made at our site. You agree to promptly update your account and other information, including your email address and credit card numbers and expiration dates, so that we can complete your transactions and contact you as needed.


We may provide you with access to third-party tools over which we neither monitor nor have any control nor input. This includes social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, and services such as Google Analytics.

We may, but have no obligation to, monitor, edit or remove content that we determine in our sole discretion are unlawful, sexist, racist, homophobic, offensive, threatening, libelous, defamatory, pornographic, obscene or otherwise objectionable or violates any party’s intellectual property or these Terms of Service.


Your submission of personal information through the site is governed by our Privacy Policy.


Occasionally there may be information on our site or in the Service that contains typographical errors, inaccuracies or omissions. We reserve the right to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions, and to change or update information or cancel transactions if any information in the Service or on any related website is inaccurate at any time without prior notice.

These Terms of Service and any separate agreements whereby we provide you Services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Australian Capital Territory, Australia.

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to update, change or replace any part of these Terms of Service by posting updates and changes to our website. It is your responsibility to check our website periodically for changes. Refund Policy

Our policy lasts 14 days. If 14 days have gone by since your contribution, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund.

To be eligible for a refund, you must contact us within 14 days of your contribution.

Refunds of items

This website does not sell items or goods. 

Late or missing refunds (if applicable)

If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again.

Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.

Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Fair Go For Canberra Inc (FGFC) is a non-profit organisation working build to more equitable, democratic and social community. FGFC has partnered with UnionsACT (UACT), the peak body representing affiliated trade unions in the Canberra region, to run campaigns and achieve our shared aims. 

FGFC is committed to protecting your privacy and providing you with information and services relevant to you. FGFC seeks to comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This Privacy Policy (Policy) should be read in conjunction with the Privacy Act and the APPs.

How this Policy applies

This Policy applies to personal information FGFC collects from you:

  • via one of our websites (e.g. www.fairgoforcanberra.org.au);
  • via social media;
  • via telephone;
  • via email;
  • via fax;
  • in person; and/or
  • in writing.

This Policy also applies to personal information FGFC collects from its partners and any other third party, about you.

FGFC websites

FGFC websites collect two types of information. The first type is anonymous information. The web server makes a record of your visit a range of information.

The second type of information that FGFC websites collect is personal information. Personal information is requested in order to provide personalised and enhanced services that are not available to anonymous users. Cookies may be used on FGFC’s websites.

Our websites may contain links to other websites and social media pages including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. We are not responsible for the privacy policies of the entities responsible for those websites.

The purposes for which personal information is collected, held, used and disclosed

FGFC collects, holds, uses and discloses your personal information including your email address to:

  • inform you about social, community, workplace and political campaigns;
  • inform you about your rights and entitlements;
  • inform you about changes or proposed changes to legislation and regulations;
  • refer you to an appropriate union or other organisation;
  • improve our service delivery;
  • manage FGFC’s relationship with you;
  • to provide you advertising or marketing information of behalf of a third party;
  • conduct surveys and research;
  • provide educational services and professional development; and/or
  • to subscribe you to the FGFC’s email newsletter(s).

Specifically, FGFC will share the information it collects with UACT to achieve shared objectives.

Using your information for direct marketing

You consent to our use and disclosure of your personal information for the purposes of direct marketing which may include providing you with information about campaigns, events, products or services which may be of interest to you. 

Unsubscribing and opting out

If you no longer wish to receive direct marketing or other communications, you may request at any time to cancel your consent to such communications by communicating in writing to us.

Disclosure of your personal information

FGFC may disclose your personal information, in connection with or to further the purposes outlined above, to:

  • UnionsACT, the affiliates of UnionsACT and related trades halls or labour councils;
  • organisations to whom we have a relationship with (including but not limited to information technology providers, print service providers, mail houses);
  • otherwise as you have consented; and/or
  • otherwise as required by law.

How FGFC holds personal information

Wherever reasonably practicable FGFC holds electronic personal information on data servers that are owned and controlled by UACT in Australia. The data servers are password protected and login secured. 

UACT will take reasonable steps to ensure that any third party providers comply with the APPs, or are subject to a law or scheme that is at least substantially similar to the way in which the APPs protect information.

Some services we use may store data on servers held in the United States or other overseas locations. Information kept using the Nationbuilder service (which www.fairgoforcanberra.org.au uses) is held in the United States.

Variations to the Policy

This Policy may be varied from time to time and an updated version will be posted on FGFC’s websites. Please check our websites regularly to ensure that you have the most recent version of the Policy.
